The Maxwell Family Vacation

*Words and photos will not do this trip any justice. Captain Davey had our family of four out for an all-day fishing trip on New Year's Eve Day in 2014. Although the weather was overcast, the seas a bit choppy, he reassured us we would catch fish. The kids had always wanted to catch a shark and that was our main objective. Within a half hour of setting up in Charlotte Harbor off the Boca Grande shores, we had fish on. Our daughter caught a feisty 4-1/2 foot Black Tip Shark while our son tied into a 150 pound Goliath Grouper. They both had their fish on at the same time! Meanwhile, the third reel took off and we had hooked a nice Gag Grouper on that line as well. I had heard of "legendary fishing stories" of people having triples, but this is the first time I had experienced it first hand. We had an absolute wonderful day, a nice lunch at Cabbage Key Island and we took away many wonderful memories. I would go out of my way to share another experience like this with Captain Davey the next time I find myself back in southwest Florida. Thanks for the hospitality of both Davey and his wife Belinda (and their extended family), as we were able to share some laughs and good times on the beach later on that evening. Great fun!!!!
